Description

Bubble Trouble: Golly! Ghost! 2 is a light gun shooter and ticket redemption game for one or two players set around a shipwreck at the bottom of the ocean. It is the sequel to Golly! Ghost!. The setting is cartoony and comical and the players have to shoot fish, crabs, eels, sea horses and other sea creatures to clear each scene. Score at least the required amount of points to advance to the next scene, or else it's game over.

The players are named Zip and Zap, with a blue gun on the left and a red gun on the right. The game takes place in a single screen at the bottom of the ocean. There is a shipwreck, a treasure chest, a pink clam shell and ruins of an old building. The game has 5 scenes and each scene also has a bonus character. In the first 4 scenes it is one of the four colored ghosts, and in the 5th and final scene it is all four ghost characters.

The game uses a unique setup, combining a mechanical diorama with an overlay of video game graphics. The mechanical diorama of the ocean floor is at bottom of the cabinet facing up. The monitor and diorama are combined using a mirror and a glass pane. During the game, servo motors similar to the ones used in pinball machines move the elements. The clam shell, treasure chest and the entire ship will physically open and close or move, synchronized to the game graphics so that it looks like fish and ghosts appear from them. There is also a separate red LED score board on the marquee of the cabinet.
