Tough Turf artwork Tough Turf (タフターフ) is a 1989 2D beat 'em up arcade game developed by Sunsoft and Sega. It was published by Sega in Japan and in North America by Sunsoft of America. Tough Turf resembles Technos Japan's 1987 beat 'em up arcade hit, Double Dragon. Up to two players control two office workers who appear to be leaving work and decided to proceed through warehouses and urban areas beating up gang members. Tough Turf's control configuration is composed of two attack buttons (punch and kick), as well a jump button to fight against enemies or overcome obstacles. The player has access to a repertoire of techniques by pushing these buttons individually or in combination. Weapons are also along the lines of long iron pipes, knives and broken bottles.

Description

Tough Turf is a 2D side-scrolling urban themed beat 'em-up game with eight stages total, which lead through a warehouse, sewer and factory, to the final bad guy's mansion.

Enemies assault the player barehanded, or armed with broken bottles, pipes or maces. Attacks from enemies can be blocked. Counter attacks include jumps, kicks and hand to hand moves. Along the way weapons (like pipe and mace) dropped by enemies can be picked up. The game can be played solo or with a friend.
