Description

Alien 3: The Gun is a rail shooter, loosely based on the movie Alien 3. Players are Colonial Marines, who are sent to the USS Sulaco to rescue survivors and, later, crash on Fiorina "Fury" 161 (the planet from the movie). The planet is now an alien nest - players must kill all aliens.

The game's controller is a pivoting Pulse Rifle with a trigger and bomb button. Pulling the trigger fires the normal shot, which has to recharge if held down for too long, while the bomb button will throw out a limited use bomb that kills every alien onscreen. Each of the game's six levels are played in sequence, but levels 3, 4, and 5 give the player a choice of two different paths for the rest of that level. Every level tasks the player with wading through swarms of Xenomorphs of all breeds and maturities, and each level ends with a fight against a stronger boss enemy. A handful of automated robotic defense enemies are scattered through the game as well. Levels 3, 4, and 5 also introduce escaping prisoners who, if they survive, will restore the player's health. Extra health, bombs, and a temporary flame thrower can be found by shooting scenery objects.
