Description

Atomic Point is an Tetris variant with some differences for the action puzzle gameplay. Depending on the settings the game supports one, two, three or five players taking turns or two players simultaneously, but as two separate single-player games in different rounds not tied to each other. Next to the Atomic Point mode the cabinet can also be configured in a game mode to have regular, endless games of Tetris.

In the standard Atomic Point game mode the game consists of 99 stages that can be completed starting at stage 1, 11, 21 ... up to 89 with an increasing difficulty level. While regular Tetris shapes and gameplay is used, the goal of each stage is to remove the glowing blocks from the field by matching them in a line. Once that is done the level is completed right away. Levels have a time limit and the speed gradually increases. Often there are changes to the background and the music also shifts when death is imminent. To make it more difficult each field starts with an irregular block pattern already present, making it tough to build and clear lines right away. Usually the starting blocks need to be removed one by one to get access to the glowing ones.

Some levels introduce power blocks that have different effects. Some power blocks introduce additional glowing blocks or remove them, other can shape a desired block, erase blocks vertically, bomb adjacent blocks or snap falling blocks. Some blocks contains a sparkling element called an option. Using a separate button the player can choose to active these options, with four beneficial effects: Block (select the shape of blocks), Bomb (bomb adjacent blocks), Pong (erase blocks vertically and drop down) and Turtles (reduce the game speed).
