Description
In Space Chaser, the player drives a spaceship through a maze collecting dots while being pursued by a "Space Chaser", a homing missile. The maze itself is set up in a similar manner to the one found in the game Head-On.
To clear a level the player has to collect all of the dots. However the more dots that are collected, the more speed the missile giving chase gains.. The player can use a Thrust button to help evade a missile, but this costs some of the ship's reserve fuel. If the player can beat a level without wasting a drop of their reserve fuel, they will earn bonus points to their score.
The game will eventually increase in difficulty by first introducing a second missile into the fray. However this missile is more of an obstacle to be avoided as it doesn't give chase. Then the game introduces a green zone which increase the missiles speed when the player's ship is in that zone. The games then increase the difficulty again by changing the second missile into another homing missile that chases the player's ship directly. After that, the green zone becomes a permanent fixture of every level.
